Cartoon artist reflection

                                                                     Artist Reflection

The strongest aspect of my work is the eyes because i blended a darker color  with a lighter color to get the right variation in the eyes and i added a white dot in the corner of the eye to make it more realistic. The aspect of my work that can be improved upon is the hands because the shape is off and the fingers are also off.
The difficult part of this art activity was creating the right shape in AI because it was really difficult to get used to the new tools. It was also hard to create the right shape. The easy part of this art activity was coloring what we had already traced. it was easy because i only had choose a color and then paint where i wanted it.
The objective of this art project was to learn the pen tool. I demonstrated it by tracing my original image as closely as I could. The pen tool creates a straight line if u just click and then drag and it creates a curve when you click and hold then drag. Then you use the handles to adjust the curves to the right shape.  If i could do this art project again i would redo the hands, so they look better. I would do this by re-tracing the arms and hands, so they match my original drawing better.

Animal hybrid artist reflection

                                                                            Artist Reflection

The strongest aspect of my work is the head because it looks like it is supposed to be there. This aspect looks the most normal on the turtle because I positioned it correctly and added fur to a little bit of the shell to make it look natural. The aspect of my work that can be improved upon is the feet because they aren't as natural looking with the fur. I could improve upon this aspect by having more of the claws show and trying to get the shape to look more like the turtle.

The easy part of this activity was using the stamp tool because all you had to do was option click and then you could paint the fur wherever you wanted. The stamp tool made it easy to use the bunnies fur on the rest of the turtle to make the bunny and turtle combination more natural.  The hard part of this activity was choosing the animals because it was difficult to find animals that would blend well with your other animals. It was then hard to take the animals and make one natural looking animal. I used the head and fur of a bunny, the body of a turtle, and the tail and eye of a yellow lab.

I demonstrated the objective in this activity by using the stamp and healing brush tools to make a realistic looking hybrid. I used the stamp tool to copy the bunny fur onto the turtle. I also used the stamp tool to stamp the eye of the yellow lab onto the bunnies face. Finally, i used the stamp tool to fix where I had to erase the turtles head. The stamp tool allowed me to make the background like I never erased anything. I used the healing brush tool to copy certain pieces of the animals body that I wanted to use because I only had to choose a certain part and then paint where i wanted that to go. If I could do this activity again I would try to make the feet look more natural and more of a combination between turtle and bunny.

Paint artist reflection

The strongest aspect of my work is the blending of the face because it looks most like the actual picture. It is also blended really well with very similar colors to the original. The aspect of my work that could be improved upon is the feet because they are the least similar to the original picture. I would improve upon this aspect by starting them over and using the eye dropper tool to pick up as many of the colors as i can. Then i would use the blend brush to blend the colors, but i would do my best not to blend too much.
The easy part of this activity was blocking out the colors to be blended later. I used the eye dropper tool which made it easy to get the right colors I needed to make the penguin look as close to the original picture as possible. The difficult part of this activity was the blending because it was very hard to get the blending just right. For instance sometimes the colors got messed up or something was either blended too little or too much.
I demonstrated the objective for this project by using the paint brush and the mixer brush tool. I used these tools to create the smooth texture of the penguin. I also used these tools to make different parts of the penguin darker to make it look real and like it has shadows on it. These tools allowed me to make the areas where more sun was hitting the penguin much lighter than other parts. If I could do this project again i would change the blending of the feet by not over blending so that each color could be seen better.

Andy Warhol project artist reflection

The strongest aspect of my work is the combinations of the colors. This is my strongest aspect because most of the colors complement each other and the others look very well together. The aspect of my work that can be improved upon is the clarity of the picture because the bottom of the picture isn't as clear.  I would do this by either taking another photo or choosing a different one that i already had.
The easiest part of the this project was choosing the colors. This was easy because i used different shades of two different colors in each picture. I also mainly used complementary colors in the images. The most difficult part of this activity was getting the magic wand tool to select what you wanted it. This was hard because sometimes it selected too much or too little and then you had to adjust the tolerance of the tool.
I demonstrated the objective by using the tools on photo shop. One of the tools i used was the magic wand tool. This selected areas of the image which allowed you to change the colors. I also used the filter gallery. The filter i used was cutout. Another tool i used was the paint bucket, which painted the areas i selected with the magic wand tool. The last tool i used was the image adjustment settings. I used the hue and saturation to change the colors of the copies. I also used the black and white to make the original image black and white so it would be easier to change the colors.
If i could do this activity again i would change the original size of the picture to 8x10 because i made mine 11x7 accidentally. I would change this by changing the dimensions of the new file i created.

Polaroid project Artist Reflection

                                                                      Artist Reflection

The strongest aspect of my work is the extra water drip I used to hide the cut edges of the polaroids. This is the strongest aspect because it added detail to the work and creates more color. It also was an interesting way to hide the edges where the polaroid had gotten cut. The aspect of my work that can be improved upon is the color of the background paper. I would use the edit tools to make the background paper look whiter or when painting I would use a more white piece of paper.

The easiest part of this activity was painting the background because I chose colors to match the colors in the picture. Blue to match our tongues and green to match the grass and trees. After I did some painting I blew on the paint so that it would drip down the paper. The difficult part of this activity was creating a design with the polaroid pictures and the background because there were multiple editing tools involved in creating a design. Also the placement of the quote and polaroids had to pull the eye to where you wanted it to go. After merging the layers you had then take the polaroids and shrink them down and turn them. Then you had to hide the edges, so you had to take pieces of the background and bring them forward. Basically this was the difficult part because there were a lot of steps and tools in the process of creating your design.

The objective of this project was to combine the painting and the computer element using tools from photoshop. I did this by uploading the image of my background after i painted it. I stretched the image and then I used the image editing tools like the brightness and contrast, the levels, and vibrance. I then copied pieces of the painting i had created to shrink down to use to hide the edges of the polaroid. On these i changed the opacity down to 76%, so they didn't cover our faces too much. I used the magic wand tool many times to get rid of the excess picture and polaroid. I also used that tool to select pieces of the background painting so that i could copy them and use them again.

If I could do this art project all over again I would change the color of the background paper, so that it is whiter and matches the color of the polaroids. I would do this by either using a whiter colored paper when I was painting or by attempting to use the image editing tools to make the paper look whiter, without changing the water color drips that much.

Tattoo project Artist Reflection

                                                                         Artist Reflection

The strongest aspect of my work is the illustration of the tattoo. This is the strongest aspect of my work because it is very detailed and is an interesting design with more than one components that I joined to make one tattoo.

The aspect of my work that can be approved upon is the use of the burn and dodge tool because they were difficult tools to use and it made the tattoo look slightly messy.

The easiest part of this activity was coming up with an idea for a tattoo and then drawing the tattoo. This was easy because I had the image in my head and I had images on the computer to compare my drawing with. All I had to do was draw the image I had in my head already.

The hardest part of this activity was using the tools required to make it look like a tattoo. The warp tool was really hard to use because we had to make it look like it was on the skin, so i had to make mine round to fit my wrist. The dodge and burn tool were also very hard to use because I had to make the areas where the light was on my wrist lighter and the areas where it was dark on my wrist darker. These tools were hard to determine which areas to make darker and lighter.

I demonstrated the objective by using the tools of multiply blend, warp, dodge, and burn to create an illustration that looked as if it were a tattoo. The multiply blend got rid of the white from the tattoo to show the skin throughout the tattoo. Warp allowed me to apply the tattoo to the curves of my wrist. For instance I had to make the tattoo more round to fit my wrist. The burn tool allowed me to darken the areas of the tattoo where there wasn't as much light on my wrist. The dodge tool allowed me to lighten the areas of my tattoo where a lot of light was. Each tool made it look more and more as a tattoo. All these tools allowed me to create the effect that it was actually on my arm.

If i could do this art activity again I would redo the areas where I applied the burn and dodge tool. These tools made the tattoo look messy, so if i were to redo them now, i could try to make them neater, so that the picture looks better.

Self portrait project Artist Reflection

1

The strongest aspect of my work is the way i used the filters to make the pictures look different than the original images. This is the strongest aspect because it allows me to blend some of the images into the background and it adds more detail to each image.

The aspect i would improve upon is the cluttering at the bottom because it makes the top look a little empty. This can be improved upon by placing other items in a different location that would look better.

The easy part of this project was putting on the filters. This was the easiest part because all you had to do was go to the filter gallery and choose one that looked good on the picture and would go with the background.

The difficult part of this project was picking out pictures to describe myself. It was very hard to find a picture that would fit what i was thinking about and it was hard to thing of ten things that i like.

I demonstrated this objective by using proximity, alignment, contrast, and using different filters. I showed proximity by placing the cat next to Taylor Swift and the phone behind her. I demonstrated alignment by aligning the soccer ball behind the basketball. I demonstrated contrast by varying the sizes of each picture so they weren't all the same. I used many filters to make the images look better. Some of these filters included watercolor on taylor swift, the diffusion glow on the cat, the graphic pen on the hunger games series, and cutout on the iPhone. I used many other filters beside these. I also reduced the opacity to make some images blend better with the background.

If I could do this project all over again I would put more pictures near the top of the picture and i would make the lines where i erased the borders of the pictures neater because they are a little rigid.

Typography project artist reflection

Artist Reflection

The strongest aspect of my work is the way I aligned the capital, cursive J's to form a heart. I then used different opacity's to create a faded look. This is the strongest aspect of my work because it adds detail to my work. The aspect in my work that I could improve upon is the location of the hearts because they were paced right near the center, but not directly in the center. I could improve upon this aspect by by moving each heart over to the right and maybe having the biggest heart go off the page just a little.

The easiest part of this project was choosing a color scheme because I just used different shades of similar blues, which made some colors pop and others fade. This also allowed for some letters to come in front of others. The most difficult part of this project was trying to figure out all the tools and actually getting the tools to do what you needed them to do.

I demonstrated the objective in this project by using contrast, alignment, proximity, and the rule of thirds in my project. I used contrast in my project by using different sizes of the letter J. I demonstrates alignment by placing multiple lower case J's in rows across the top and the left hand side. I used proximity by placing capital J's next to each other to create the appearance of a heart. I also demonstrated the rule of thirds by not placing anything directly in the center of the page. If I could do this activity again, I would explore more of the tools to create more effects on the page.
